THE DARTMOOR ARTISAN TRAIL

Photography by Suzy Bennett

Suzy is the founder of The Dartmoor Artisan Trail, an arts, craft and food trail, which links Dartmoor National Park's finest craftspeople.

Suzy's project started life as a photography exhibition of Dartmoor's artisans. In April 2017, her portraits were displayed as solo exhibitions at the prestigious Devon Guild of Craftsmen in Bovey Tracey, Devon, and they were Dartmoor National Park's 2017 summer exhibition.

Due to the huge public interest in her photographs, Suzy decided to build on the project and set up The Dartmoor Artisan Trail. This gives visitors the chance to glimpse behind the studio walls of the moor's creative community, watch demonstrations, take hands-on workshops and buy work directly from the maker.

The first trail of its kind in the UK, it has been featured on BBC Countryfile - the UK's most-watched television programme, with nine million viewers, and has also been widely acclaimed in the national press, including The Guardian, Lonely Planet Magazine and The Daily Telegraph, who named the trail one of the UK's best travel experiences of 2017.
